The international conference Set-theoretical methods in topology and real functions theory will take place on the occasion of the 80th birthday of the emeritus professor of the Faculty of Science of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice – Lev Bukovsky, on September 9th to 13th.

The conference Set-theoretical in topology and real functions theory, dedicated to the 80th birthday of Professor Lev Bukovsky, is an international conference organized exceptionally on the occasion of the professor’s jubilee. Professor Bukovsky is the founder of set theory in Slovakia. He contributed to the establishment of the Department of Mathematical Informatics at the Faculty of Science of UPJŠ (1986), and was the second post-revolutionary rector of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University (1991-1996). He also worked with high school mathematical talents for many years. In 2015 he was awarded the Great Medal of Saints. Gorazd (the highest award in the education sector by the Minister of Education for outstanding lifelong work in the education of generations of mathematicians and for significant scientific contributions in the field of Set Theory.

The SETMATH conference will be attended by more than 70 experts and students from 16 countries who will present the scientific results of their latest research in the areas in which the professor is active. The program includes six invited guest presentations from abroad: Aleksander Błaszczyk – Katowice (Poland), István Juhász – Budapest (Hungary), Thilo Weinert – Vienna (Austria), Santi Spadaro – Catania (Italy), Menachem Magidor – Jerusalem (Israel) and Thomas Jech – Pennsylvania (USA).
