Laboratory of transmission electron microscopy (LEM) is a part of the Institute of Biology and Ecology, Faculty of Science, P.J. Šafárik University in Košice. The laboratory is localised in the basement of RBL pavilion on Šrobárova 2. The laboratory is equipped by transmission electron microscope JEOL JEM-1230 (high contrast) designed for analyses of ultrastructure of biological samples and analyses of immunolabelled samples. The microscope is equipped by wolfram cathode of maximum accelerating voltage 120 kV, digital CCD camera and software ITEM for image acquisition. The lattice resolution is 0.2 nm and maximal magnification 600 000×.
