On Tuesday, 12 December 2023, the President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel officially handed over the appointment decrees to the new professors in the Grand Auditorium of the Karolinum in Prague. One of the newly appointed professors is prof. RNDr. Zuzana Vargová, Ph.D. in the field of inorganic chemistry.

She completed her higher education at the Faculty of Science of University of P. J. Šafárik in Košice in 1995 in the field of inorganic chemistry (M.Sc.) and in 1997 she successfully passed the rigorosum procedure (RNDr.). In 2004 she was awarded the degree of Philosophiae doctor (Ph.D.) in inorganic chemistry at the Faculty of Science of Charles University in Prague. In 2012, she was awarded the title of Associate Professor at the Faculty of Science of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice. Since 2019 she has been the director of the Institute of Chemistry of the Faculty of Science of the University of P. J. Šafárik in Košice and provides courses in Bioinorganic Chemistry for several study programmes, Practical Inorganic Chemistry, Mechanisms of Inorganic Reactions, General and Inorganic Chemistry. Within her teaching activities she has published several university textbooks and within her scientific work more than 60 articles registered in Web of Science and Scopus, for which more than 900 citations are registered in these databases.
