In the second week of September, the 10 best participants of the 1st year of the Chemical School in Košice participated at a seminar at the Institute of Chemistry. Seminar was the reward for successful solving of interesting and unconventional tasks.

P. J. Šafárik in Košice, as a partner of the international project HE EIC MHz Tomoscopy, co-organized the second annual meeting of the project. It included an open presentation event of the project, which took place on 4 September 2024 in Bratislava.

The scientific team of prof. RNDr. Zuzana Vargová, Ph.D. at the Department of Inorganic Chemistry, Institute of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, is focused on the synthesis and characterization of new bioavailable, predominantly silver complexes, since silver ions themselves have proven antimicrobial and, in recent years, anti-neoplastic effects.

Doctoral student of the Institute of Physics of the Faculty of Science, P. J. Šafárik University in Košice, Mgr. Illia Kozin from the Department of Condensed Matter Physics won the prize for the best presented poster at the traditional International Conference on Magnetism, Bologna, Italy, in the section Dimensionality in spin-related phenomena. Within the framework of the World Brain Day, which falls on 22 July of the calendar year, the working group from theInstitute of Biology and Ecology, under the leadership of RNDr. Terézia Kiskova PhD., wants to actively present itself with the COST project (CA22103 - A COMPREHENSIVE NETWORK AGAINST BRAIN CANCER - Net4Brain).

The non-profit organization Junior Chamber International - Slovakia (JCI) awarded the five best startups of this year. The absolute winner of the competition was Mgr. Miroslav Hennel from the Institute of Physical Sciences of the Faculty of Physical Sciences of UPJŠ.

The Faculty of Science is co-organizing the international conference "XIV. European Magnetic Sensors and Actuators Conference (EMSA 2024)", which will take place on June 24-27, 2024 on the premises of our Alma Mater.

The next round of this international presentation took place on June 8–15, in which Sarah Krupšová also participated with the project “Effect of hydrothermal and thermal activation of cellulose-amine porous materials on CO2 capture”.
