On May 23, 2024, the first National Round of the Student Scientific Conference (SSC) in Geography was hosted by the Institute of Geography, Facutly of Science. The competition was attended by 11 successful participants from regional rounds of the SSC from various Slovak geography departments: Faculty of Natural Sciences, Comenius University in Bratislava; Faculty of Natural Sciences and Informatics, Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra; Faculty of Natural Sciences, Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica; Faculty of Humanities and Natural Sciences, University of Prešov; and Faculty of Natural Sciences, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice. Their contributions were evaluated by a panel of experts comprising representatives from each of the mentioned faculties. Geography has joint other sciences such as Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science which already have the platform for networking of talendted studnets on national or Czech-Slovak level.
We are pleased to announce that two of our students, Max Timothy Martin (Geography and Geoinformatics) and Denisa Jacková (Teaching Geography and Biology), secured first and second place, respectively.
We warmly congratulate them on this significant achievement, which is a testament to the quality of education in natural sciences at Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice.
