The Department of Genetics of the Institute of Biology and Ecology at the P.J.Šafárik University in Košice commemorated this years 50th anniversary of the institutionalization of genetics at the Faculty of Sience, P.J.Šafárik University in Košice. On this occasion, a memorial seminar was held on the 18th of December 2018 at 1 pm in the room SB1P1 at the P.J.Šafárik University Botanical Garden, where we commemorated the beginnings of the genetic research before the Department of Genetics was established, which date back to the mid-1950s and also the significant milestones of genetics at the Faculty of Science, P.J.Šafárik University in Košice during its history.
