The research activities at Department of Genetics are focused on identification of genes coding biosynthetic enzymes involved in secondary metabolites pathways based on interdisciplinary approach. The methods of molecular genetics, biochemistry, bioinformatics are used at different OMICS levels from functional genomics to metabolomics. The main point of our interest are secondary metabolites of medicinal value biosynthetized in Hypericum spp. and genetically related species. Our scientific effort is also aimed at isoprenoids from Arabidopsis thaliana.
Department of Genetics is core member of Research team of bioactive substances for biomedical applications Bioaktiv and consortium Hypexplor (www.hypexplor.com)
