The Career Day event returned to the campus of UPJŠ in Košice for the seventh time after two years in the online space. Employers and students were welcomed at the university premises in the city centre at Moyzesova 9 in Košice on Wednesday 19 April 2023. The central theme of this year was “Sustainable Career”.
The Career Day organised by the University Counselling Centre (UNIPOC) is a great opportunity for students to meet quality employers in one place before graduation. It is also an excellent opportunity for employers to meet students and future graduates of our university, introduce them to their company and spread its good name. This year the event took place in two zones – PROMO and INSPIRATION zone. In the PROMO zone, the participating employers presented to UPJŠ students career opportunities in their companies. In the INSPIRATION zone, discussions with invited guests were conducted.
Students had the opportunity to get first-hand information from representatives of 20 companies.
The Career Day of UPJŠ in Košice was officially opened by the Rector of UPJŠ, prof. RNDr. Pavol Sovák, CSc. “We are pleased that the job fair at UPJŠ attracts great interest from employers every year. The participating companies offer a wide range of employment opportunities for students and graduates of the University in various professional positions. Our thanks goes to the University Counselling Centre and its team not only for the organisation of the Career Day, but also for their creative approach in selecting current topics resonating on the labour market.”
In the INSPIRATION Zone, there were vibrant discussions with invited guests from 10 am to 12 noon on various topical issues such as career sustainability in the job market, combining career and family, green future in the 21st century jobs or how to be a passionate student while avoiding burnout. At the end of the programme, there was a competition for the participating students to take part in. “The theme for this year’s Career Day was “Sustainable Career”. On the one hand, it is related to ecology, UPJŠ is a Race to Zero signatory, whereby, among other ecological measures, it has committed itself to training graduates who will have ‘green skills’ and thus be able to pursue their careers in emerging ‘green jobs’. On the other hand, we have also focused on sustainability in terms of lifelong careers, i.e. prevention of burnout, work-life balance, etc.,” said the Director of UPJŠ UNIPOC and organizer of the event, Mgr. Veronika Zibrinyiová, PhD.
