In August, Assoc. Prof. Erik Sedl\u00e1k made a business trip to Zurich within the Casprot project as a planned trip in WP1 \u201cOutgoing visits\u201c. During his one month stay in the laboratory of Prof. Andreas Pl\u00fcckthun at the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Zurich, he had several discussions with Prof. Pl\u00fcckhtun and members of his laboratory in the achievement of the planned goals in the CasProt project. Senior scientists promised to participate in Symposium and Workshop within the CasProt project in Ko\u0161ice 2022. <\/p>\n
Asoc. Prof. Sedl\u00e1k performed experiments in the connection and purification of 3C protease as well as GPCR protein. The result of this work will be at least one scientific publication. Several discussions were carried out with the aim of streamlining activities in protein engineering laboratories at CIB in Ko\u0161ice, especially in the area of \u201chigh-throughput\u201c approach and establishong a laboratory for protein expression in the eukaryotic baculovirus \/ insect cell system.<\/p>\n
From August to September, students of Assoc. Prof. Sedl\u00e1k, Veronika Dzurillov\u00e1 and Martin Berta from Department of Biophysics also visited the University of Zurich during their internship. They worked on expressing proteins in insect cells with the help of baculoviruses, as well as making a ribosome display with a DNA library for membrane proteins.
