The 9th RBC 2022 Regional Biophysics Conference took place in Pécs (Hungary) from 22 to 26 August 2022. Thanks to the support of the CasProt project, several employees and PhD students of the Center for Interdisciplinary Biosciences and the Department of Biophysics of UPJŠ in Košice could participate in it actively.
The Regional Biophysics Conference is a traditional scientific meeting established by the biophysical societies of Austria, Croatia, Hungary, Italy, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia. However, the conference is open to biophysicists from all over the world and provides thus an opportunity to present results to an international professional audience. Five days of stimulating interactions and rich discussions offered the chance to meet other experts and renowned scientists, present our own projects and learn about the latest scientific knowledge in the field of biophysics. In addition, the conference is always a place for establishing new contacts and thus creating possible future partnerships and scientific cooperation. Young colleagues in particular had the opportunity to participate in the Summer school on Advanced optical microscopy and visit the István Ábrahám Nano-Bio-Imaging Center.
The presented lectures and posters focused on the obtained results associated with the implementation of the CasProt project. They mainly focused on the design and development of proteins with improved properties (such as substrate specificity, stability, and higher solubility) by protein evolution methods and single-molecule protein mechanics.
