Our colleagues, Assoc. prof. Gabriel Žoldák and PhD student Veronika Džupponová, participated in the 5th Instruct Biennial Structural Biology Conference, which took place in Utrecht, the Netherlands, from 19 to 20 May 2022. The theme of the 2022 conference was “Changes in Structural Biology: Challenges in Studying Dynamics”. The conference explored new cutting-edge developments in structural biology, including the emerging methods and technologies that are helping scientists to decipher complex biomolecular dynamics.
Participation in the conference was associated with the presentation of research results connected with the implementation of the CasProt project in the form of two posters entitled “Direct observation of chemo-mechanical coupling in the Hsp70 chaperone DnaK by single-molecule force experiments” and “Molecular mechanism of myeloma λ-type IgG light chain aggregation”. In the first poster, a demonstration of laser optical tweezers use to examine the mechanical properties of a truncated two-domain DnaK(1-552ye) in apo/ADP/ATP and peptide-bound states was presented. The second presentation was devoted to the development of a method for rapid and effective purification of a soluble form of IgG light chain.
