From August to October 2021, a PhD. student of Assoc. Prof. Gabriel Žoldák, Veronika Džupponová from the Department of Biophysics UPJŠ in Košice carried out her study stay at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). The given internship was implemented and financed within Task.1.6. CasProt project and aimed to gain new knowledge and skills in the study of membrane proteins and single molecule techniques. Specifically, the student got acquainted with techniques such as optical traps, mass photometry, or the preparation of nanodiscs needed for the study of membrane proteins. The planning of further cooperation and visits planned during the solution of the CasProt project was also carried out in addition to regular consultations and discussions with experts from TUM – prof. Matthias Rief and prof. Andreas Bausch regarding the given techniques and their use, as well as the preparation of the report for the CasProt project.
