The 13th EBSA 2021 European Biophysical Conference took place in Vienna (Austria) from 24 to 28 July 2021. Thanks to the support of the CasProt project, several employees and PhD students of the Center for Interdisciplinary Biosciences and the Department of Biophysics of UPJŠ in Košice were able to actively participate in it.
EBSA is a major European scientific event, organized at biennial intervals, which provides space not only for the presentation of results to an international professional audience, but also for a rich discussion and the opportunity to get acquainted with the latest scientific knowledge in the field of biophysics. Especially for young colleagues, it is an opportunity to meet other experts – peers, teachers, as well as Nobel Prize winners – and expand their knowledge in the field of biophysics and current scientific issues; as well as making new contacts and thus creating possible future partnerships and scientific collaborations. In addition to stimuli for their own scientific focus, such conferences are also an opportunity to present ongoing projects, achieved goals and outputs, as well as their further direction. Also in this respect, the EBSA 2021 conference provided many interesting moments, presentations and discussions – important for the possibility of presenting the CasProt project, as well as its implementation – focused on knowledge of design and development of new soluble and membrane proteins, determination of 3D structure of new proteins. or the introduction of new experimental methods based on protein selection.
