ŠUVADA R., DÍTĚ D., HRIVNÁK R. & ELIÁŠ P. JUN. (2010): Dactylorhiza incarnata group in the Slovak Karst Mts. (Slovakia) and the Aggtelek Karst Mts. (Hungary). – Thaiszia – J. Bot. 20: 1-15. – ISSN 1210-0420.
Abstract: Three taxa of Dactylorhiza incarnata group were found out in the Slovak Karst Mts and the Aggtelek Karst Mts during 2007–2008. Dactylorhiza incarnata subsp. incarnata was found in the Aggtelek Karst Mts. in the surroundings of Jósvafö, Szógliget, Perkupa villages, as well as between the Tornanádaska and Komjáti villages. In the Slovak Karst Mts it was recorded in the Hrušov, Silica and Silická Jablonica villages. Two other taxa, Dactylorhiza incarnata subsp. haematodes and Dactylorhiza incarnata subsp. pulchella, were found only in the Pod Fabiánkou Nature Reserve near the village of Silica. Neither of these two taxa were published from this area up to this time. Vegetation with occurrence of Dactylorhiza incarnata group was arranged to the associations Angelico sylvestris-Cirsietum oleracei, Filipendulo-Caricetum buekii, Agrostio stoloniferae-Deschampsietum cespitosae (Molinio-Arrhenatheretea) and Carici flavae-Cratoneuretum filicini (Scheuchzerio-Caricetea fuscae). In Slovakia, the occurrence of taxa of the Dactylorhiza incarnata group in the first three above-mentioned communities was not recorded yet. Up to now, the most of phytosociological relevés with presence of Dactylorhiza incarnata group from the territory of Slovakia were classified within the minerotrophic mire vegetation of the Scheuchzerio-Caricetea fuscae class and their successional stages.

Abstract: The article describes nitrophilous fringe ruderal and semi-natural communities of perennials in mesic to wet habitats, which are classified within the class Galio-Urticetea and vegetation of forest clearings belonging to the class Epilobietea angustifolii of the Horná Orava region. Seventeen associations and ten communities have been recorded, including several rare or insufficiently documented communities and communities of competitively strong neophytes of the alliance Senecionion fluviatilis. Class Galio-Urticetea is the most represented among all ruderal classes in the region, due to the humid and cold climate of the region. Characteristics of the communities, based on phytoceonological tables, include their floristic composition, synecology, distribution and comparison with the data, published from other regions of Slovakia.

Abstract: Habitat preferences of the invasive alien species Cynanchum rossicum (KLEOPOW) BORHIDI in northeastern United States and southeastern Canada are characterized on the basis of data from both field studies and literature. C. rossicum behaves more as a habitat generalist in North America, compared to its native range in Europe, particularly with respect to shade tolerance and soil type. It is prevalent in forest habitats as well as open meadow and savannah or woodland; and occurs mainly on loam and sandy loam soils. The ecology and structure of vegetation communities affected by C. rossicum is analyzed in the Toronto region, Canada where the phytocoenological optimum of C. rossicum occurs in semi-open communities. C. rossicum tends to be the primary or secondary dominant species in infested vegetation community polygons (43% and 26%, respectively). The area infested by C. rossicum includes 1813.21 ha or 7.25% of surveyed natural cover in the Toronto region. Young-to-mid-aged forests and plantations as well as semi-open successional communities tend to have the most severe infestations. C. rossicum is a serious threat to rare plant communities such as alvars, tallgrass oak savannahs and woodlands and their associated species.

Abstract: New findings of three overlooked species Cladonia glauca, C. ramulosa and C. scabriuscula (lichenized fungi) in Borská nížina lowland (SW Slovakia) are recorded. Their up till now known localities in Slovakia are presented and discussed. Their new localities and historical context are described in more details. The first species was considered as extinct (Ex), the second species was rare and the last species was not published in the literature from Slovakia yet.

Abstract: Association Artemisio santonici-Festucetum pseudovinae SOÓ in MÁTHÉ 1933 corr. BORHIDI 1996 is considered as one of the most abundant plant communities of saline habitats in the Pannonian Plain. The paper presents information about its current distribution in Slovakia. The obtained results were compared with historical data. Vegetation changes and the overall state of association in the past and today are commented. Although the association is considered to be primarily community of salt soils, the vegetation is able to create also on the largely disturbed places. Primary and secondary vegetation are comparable. Both were characterized by dominance of the two taxa: Artemisia santonicum subsp. patens and Festuca pseudovina. Secondary vegetation currently prevails in Slovakia. The natural communities we have sampled only on a few places (the Mostové Nature Reserve, Jatov, Kamenín, Kamenný Most). Due to the current state of saline habitats and absence of conservation management, we consider the association as critically endangered in Slovakia.

Abstract: The Argentina group of the genus Potentilla is classified here as a distinct genus, supported by results of molecular studies, on the basis of an until recently unused morphological difference (ventral stipular auricles). Species of this group formerly included in Potentilla sect. Anserina are transferred to the separate genus Argentina.

Abstract: The arcto-alpine liverwort Moerckia blyttii has been recorded in the Tatra Mts in nine localities since 1888. A search was made of majority of known localities but the species was only found at the Temnosmrečinová dolina Valley. A new locality in Žiarska dolina Valley in the West Tatra Mts has been discovered and a relevé is included.

Abstract: The halophyte moss Bryum marratii has been recorded in Slovakia, at the Hornádska kotlina basin in 1948. A search was made and apart from original locality, 460 m eastwards another locality has been found at the Hornádska kotlina basin. Phytocoenological relations of the species were investigated, the relevés are included.

Abstract: Septoria cyclaminis (Dothideomycetes) was found on leaves of Cyclamen fatrense (Primulaceae) as a new species both for the West Carpathians and Slovak mycobiota. Its description and illustration are given and its distribution is discussed.

Abstract: Historical and recent occurrence of a rare weed Small flower Hawksbeard (Crepis pulchra L.) was studied. Herbarium specimens deposited in thirteen herbaria were revised and field research during 2005–2010 was made. Overall, 49 localities of the species was recorded during our study, 29 were confirmed or newly found at present. According to our results, the IUCN category of the species was re-evaluated. Recently, Crepis pulchra is considered as vulnerable species (VU) of the Slovak flora. Distribution map of the species is given

Abstract: The canal Novi Sad-Savino Selo has the most rate of water flow and the most fresh water of all canals of the Main Canal Network Danube-Tisza-Danube hydrosystem (MCN DTD) in the Bačka. Vegetation growth in this canal is possible only in a narrow belt along the coast. Submerged vegetation of this canal is presented by plant communities Ceratophylletum demersi (Soó 27) Hild. 1956 and Ceratophyllo demersi-Vallisnerietum spiralis Lazić 2006. Floating belt is presented by plant communities: Hydrocharitetum morsus-ranae Van Langendonck 1935, Trapetum natantis Müller et Görs 1960, Lemno-Spirodeletum W. Koch 1954 and Salvinio-Spirodeletum polyrrhizae Slavnić 1956. Emerged vegetation is growth in a continuous belt along the canal and is presented with stands of plant communities Scirpo-Phragmitetum W. Koch 1926, Typhetum angustifoliae Pign. 1953, Typhetum latifoliae G. Lang 1973 and Glycerietum maximae Hueck 1931. The aim of this study was to appreciate the current status of the aquatic vegetation in the canal Novi Sad-Savino Selo for the first time.
