The Department of Medical Informatics and Simulator Medicine provides teaching of informatics in all the study programmes at Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, Faculty of Medicine. It provides teaching of information systems intended to be used in hospitals, clinics and clinical laboratories, as well as mathematical and statistical medical data processing methods in the selected fields of study. The Center for simulator and virtual medicine provides support for innovative teaching of medicine at the faculty.
Scientific and research activities of the Department are aimed at supporting the e-learning, telemedicine applications, employing videoconferencing technologies, development of human motion video-analysis methods, mathematical and statistical processing of experimental data, development and operation of computer network, implementation of the Academic Information System, and implementation of modern information and communication technologies in research, education, and clinical processes realized at the Faculty. The Department also renders audio, video, and photo services.

Lessons from compulsory elective course Hospital Information System for students of General Medicine (during winter semester of academic year 2024/2025) will be held in two groups on:
• Tuesday 15:15 – 16:45
• Wednesday 10:00 – 11:30
Teaching of the course will start in the third teaching week, i.e. 1st October 2024 (first group) and 2nd October 2024 (second group). All registered students are asked to confirm their interest to take in this course by the end of the first teaching week as well as to choose preferred group.
