The Eye Clinic of the University Hospital L. Pasteur Košice and the LF UPJŠ was established at the founding of the Faculty of Medicine of UPJŠ in 1948. In 1981, the eye clinic moved to the premises of the new FNsP to Tr.SNP 1 to 10th Monoblok and started its operation on May 11, 1981.

The eye clinic is an associated medical and pedagogical workplace.  Currently, it represents a modern diagnostic-therapeutic complement that provides comprehensive diagnostic and medical and preventive and dispensary ophthalmological care in the bed part, consulting services at specialized outpatient clinics focused on cataract microsurgery, vitreoretinal and glaucoma surgery, laser treatment, pediatric ophthalmology, neuroophthalmology and orbitology, oncomophthalmology and traumatology of the eye. The vast majority of microsurgical operations of the eye is performed within the outpatient one -day health care. More serious conditions are solved hospitalization. About 25,000 patients are examined at specialized outpatient clinics and approximately 3,000 acute patients are treated in the Constitutional-Dental Service. The vast majority of hospitalized are patients with inflammatory diseases of the eye, trauma conditions, patients with severe eye diseases requiring long-term and specific treatment, as well as patients adopted for differential-diagnostic examination for acute visual functions. Equipped with the latest diagnostic and surgical devices and professionally erudite personnels provide patients with highly specialized advice, diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases. The highest goal is to provide the patient with individual care to professional staff in a pleasant environment. The basis of success is many years of experience and constant education of staff, which will attend various professional internships in workplaces in Slovakia and abroad. In the course of pedagogical activities, the eye clinic is provided by the Vacant Teaching for Students of General Medicine and Stomatologists in Slovak and English Language, as well as for master’s and bachelor study. It also provides specialized preparation for doctors before attestation from ophthalmology, is involved in a resident program for education before the general medicine specialization examination and provides a base for education of doctors from other medical fields. congresses in both regional and national scope. He also cooperates with the Secondary Medical School Mozayesova 9 in the preparation of students in the Optik and Optometrist and the Union of Visually Impaired  in the issue of prevention of visual diseases. It provides conzular services for the Children’s University Hospital and VUSCH Košice.
