The Open Day again attracted several hundred high school students to the Faculty of Medicine, UPJŠ. About five hundred students interested in study at our faculty came to see the presentation of the study on Thursday, January 30, 2020.
The presentation activities brought closer the content of the teaching of doctoral study programmes General Medicine and Dental Medicine in the Slovak language to students of high schools. The applicants could:
– see a demonstration of the teaching of pre-clinical subjects using different models, human bones, prepared and dried organs and interesting videos
– listen to a lecture by an experienced internist from the 1st Department of Internal Medicine about the importance of internal medicine and approaching the content of internal medicine
– attend a lecture about surgical disciplines and watch videos from various surgeries, try various surgical tools and sewing aids such as needles, scissors, surgical hemostats, and staplers. Their questions were answered by the staff of the 1st Department of Surgery and the Department of Heart Surgery
– see dental instruments, models of teeth and a set of teeth and also try an exodontia on dental phantoms and work with drill simulator with the help of the staff of two dental clinics of the FM UPJŠ
Another interesting program was prepared for the visitors of the Open Day, including a visit to the Hands on Science Center at the University Science Park Medipark.
“I am very pleased that the varied program of Open Day has attracted hundreds of students to our faculty. I believe that we have provided a lot of information to high school students to help them decide what direction to follow in their further studies. Of course, I wish good luck to all those who decide to apply for our faculty,” says the Dean of the FM UPJŠ prof. Daniel Pella, M.D., PhD.
