Medical students organized the 5th year of the event “Pink October”

    Students of the Faculty of Medicine, UPJŠ prepared another successful event – Pink October, on Friday and Saturday. They visited the company Lear Corporation Seating in Prešov on Friday, October 18, 2019 and prepared an information spot at Aupark shopping center in Košice, where they informed visitors- mostly women about women’s health and potential risks on Saturday, October 19, 2019.
    “The women could try the right self-examination technique and palpate small lump hidden in silicone breast model. In addition, we provided information brochures on the issue from the Liga proti rakovine for them and pinned them a pink ribbon to show solidarity with oncological patients,” says co-organizer of the event, student of the 4th year of study programme General Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, UPJŠ Anna Sláviková.
    Medical students addressed several hundred women with whom they talked about the right technique of breast self-examination to help detect tumor early. They also pointed out the importance of mammography and the importance of regular gynecological examinations. The both “pink” October events were organized by the Club of Reproductive Health of the Association of Medical Students in Kosice and were participated by 16 students. In addition, Barbora Kuncová, M.D., the assistant at the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, UPJŠ FM and UNLP provided professional consultations for women who were interested during the Saturday event at the Aupark Shopping center in Košice.
