The students of the Faculty of Medicine, UPJŠ Zuzana Schwartzová, DMD and Viktória Pillárová won the third place in karate, judo, taekwondo and kickbox for Pavol Jozef Safarik University in Kosice at the European Universities Combat Championships in Zagreb, Croatia. The student of the 4th year of study programme General Medicine Viktória Pillárová and student of the 1st year of doctoral study Zuzana Schwartzová, DMD won the 3rd place in karate kumite women – teams and Zuzana Schwartzová, DMD held 5th place in the category of individuals- women up to 55 kg.

The European Universities Championships were held in Zagreb from July 30, 2019 to August 4, 2019 and were attended by 1,300 competitors from 404 universities and 36 countries. More than 400 racers from 31 countries and 183 universities were competing in karate. One of them was a student of the 2nd year of study programme General Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, UPJŠ Ján Fůzer who could not compete in his weight category of individuals due to injury.
