The ceremonial opening of the Center of Simulator and Virtual Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine, UPJŠ which establishment costs about 2.8 million EUR took place on Thursday, September 9, 2021

    The ceremonial ribbon was cut by the Rector of UPJŠ prof. RNDr. Pavol Sovák, CSc., the Dean of UPJŠ FM prof. Daniel Pella, M.D., PhD., the Vice-Dean for Grants, Development and International Relations prof. Monika Halánová, D.V.M., PhD. and the Head of the Center of Simulator and Virtual Medicine MDDr. Jakub Jánošík, MPH, MSc.
    The establishment of the center with the most modern equipment, which has more than thirty interactive tools for theoretical and clinical subjects teaching and special models for training nursing techniques, will significantly advance and complement the practical teaching of clinical subjects implemented without burdening patients, but also the teaching of preclinical subjects with the help of simulators and virtual reality.

    The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine prof. Daniel Pella, M.D., PhD., who was the author of this idea, feels the great joy of the establishment of the CSVM.
    “This center will assist in the teaching of several subjects within all study years in various study programmes and modernize, improve, and make attractive teaching of preclinical and clinical subjects. The use of high-quality simulators and models represents the most modern trends in the teaching of medicine and other medical disciplines and will enable students to acquire new knowledge and many practical skills in an extremely attractive form,” states the Dean prof. Daniel Pella, M.D., PhD.

    The establishment of the Center of Simulator and Virtual Medicine cost almost  2.8 million EUR and was funded mainly from the faculty’s own resources from teaching students in the English language. The center will officially serve the students of our Faculty at the beginning of this academic year,  from September 20, 2021.
    As was emphasized by the Rector of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, prof. RNDr. Pavol Sovák, CSc., “every investment in equipment used to educate our students is also an investment in the future of all of us”.
