The Faculty of Medicine, UPJŠ has obtained a thousand tests for detection of the British version of the SARS-CoV-2 virus from the Slovak company MultiplexDX which is led by researcher Pavol Čekan.
The employees of the Department of Epidemiology and the Department of Medical and Clinical Biochemistry are working with the test kits under the supervision of the Head of the Department of Epidemiology and the Vice-Dean for Grants, Development and International Relations prof. D.V.M. Monika Halánová, Ph.D. in the accredited laboratory for SARS-CoV-2 diagnostics at the Faculty of Medicine, UPJŠ.
The tests will be used to map the presence of a rapidly spreading British coronavirus mutation in samples taken from the residents of Košice city during a recent screening testing and to diagnose the British coronavirus mutation in patients from L. Pasteur University Hospital Košice.
