The largest preventive event in the field of oral health in Slovakia “TOGETHER FOR A HEALTHY AND BEAUTIFUL SMILE”, organized by our medical students culminated in Košice on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.
Dental medicine students visited a total of 20 Slovak cities and provided practical instruction on teeth cleaning to over ten thousand people during the 11 days of the event. They were available to the general public between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. in front of the Urban Tower in Košice city on September 12, 2023.
The Rector of Pavol Jozef Šafárik Unniversity in Košice prof. Daniel Pella, M.D., PhD appreciates the noble activity of the dental students. As he emphasizes, the Faculty of Medicine and the University can be proud of the medical students who organize an event of such scope and importance across the whole of Slovakia. “Poor oral hygiene can be the start of really serious inflammatory diseases, so educating such a large population is a great benefit. In addition, this roadshow contributes to the popularisation of the field of dentistry and helps to reduce people’s entrenched fear of visiting the dentist’s office,” notes Rector Daniel Pella. According to the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, UPJŠ prof. Peter Jarčuška, M.D., PhD. “the event TOGETHER FOR A BEAUTIFUL AND HEALTHY SMILE is not only a great benefit for the health of the general public, but at the same time, dental students gain valuable experience for their future contact with patients. That is why the Faculty of Medicine, UPJŠ has been a professional guarantor of the event from the very beginning and has supported it financially throughout its existence.”
