The fourth year of the MEDIC RUN took place on Tuesday, April 9, 2019. The event was attended by 110 men and 103 women and a large number of foreign students of the Faculty of Medicine, UPJŠ were among them. All 213 participants took part in the undemanding 3 km run and the event was opened by the Vice-Dean for Study Programme General Medicine in English Language assoc. prof. Pavol Kristian, M.D., PhD.
The first man at the finish line was Filip Sklenárik from the Technical University, the second and third were students of the Faculty of Medicine, UPJŠ from Germany – Norman Stark and Vitus Brandl. The medical students Barbara Chrenková (1st place), Zuzana Gejdošová (2nd place) and Norwegian Anniken Aanesen (3rd place) scored in the women’s category.
“If someone wants to recommend a healthy movement regime to their patients, he shall lead by example, not only in words but also in actions. Therefore, I appreciate this activity of our medical students and I am glad that it has already become a tradition,” says prof. Daniel Pella, M.D., PhD.
The MEDIC RUN was organized by the Public Health Club of the Association of Medical Students in Košice. “We collected 654 euro for the Children’s University Hospital, which will be used to make the environment more enjoyable for small patients and to enrich their leisure activities,” says organizer Anna Jenčová.
