The Slovak International Clinical Trials Day – ICTD 2019 took place on May 30th 2019 in Bratislava with the participation of ECRIN Director General Jacques Demotes and leaders of national infrastructures within V4 countries, i.e. CZECRIN which based at the Masaryk University in Brno, HECRIN at the University of Pésc in Hungary and representatives from Poland. Slovakia was represented by the CEO of SLOVACRIN and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of P. J. Safarik University in Kosice prof. Daniel Pella.
The conference was opened by State Secretary of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic Stanislav Spanik.The direction of Slovakia in the area of support for academic clinical trials and biomedicine was presented by representatives of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic and the State Institute for Drug Control. A few Slovak doctors and researchers presented the benefits of selected academic clinical trials, and in particular cases suggested possible forms of cooperation with SLOVACRIN. At the same time, they expressed their gratitude to the representatives of the Faculty of Medicine for such an initiative.
SLOVACRIN (National Network of Clinical Research Infrastructure)
is a national research infrastructure network connecting hospitals, universities and scientific institutions involved in academic clinical research. SLOVACRIN is coordinated by the Faculty of Medicine of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice. General director of SLOVACRIN and dean of the Faculty of Medicine is prof. Daniel Pella. SLOVACRIN supports the preparation and implementation of academic clinical trials in Slovakia, including international trials. The aim is to increase the number and quality of academically initiated clinical trials in Slovakia, using the available capacity and expertise to ensure compliance with regulatory, legislative and ethical requirements related to clinical research.
