About a hundred students from more than thirty European countries have arrived at the international meeting 68th EDSA Meeting Košice 2021, which is taking place on 23-27. August 2021 in the premises of the Faculty of Medicine and has been organized by students and graduates of the FM UPJŠ of the study programme Dental Medicine.

The preparation of this international meeting took eight months and its organization during the pandemic was a great challenge for the students. “Although there were many complications associated with organization, we consider the fact that the event is held live very important for the further operation of the whole association,” said its organizers, recent graduates of the study programme Dental Medicine at the FM UPJŠ – MDDr. Ivana Ligusová and MDDr. Marcel Paľovčík.
As they emphasize, the implementation of the event would not be possible without the support of the Faculty of Medicine, UPJŠ, which provided them not only with its premises but also with significant financial support.

Dean of the FM UPJŠ prof. Daniel Pella, M.D., PhD. noted that the Faculty strives within its possibilities to support both student organizations operating at the Faculty of Medicine, UPJŠ, and talented sportsmen from the FM UPJŠ. “We have provided student associations with meeting rooms and, of course, they can also use lecture rooms for educational activities organized as part of extracurricular activities. We help them financially in organizing important events, such as the nationwide roadshow of Dental Medicine students “Together for a beautiful and healthy smile” with a great response from the public and a great contribution in the field of prevention. We were also happy to contribute to this international meeting and EDSA congress, which is taking place in Košice on the premises of our Faculty. The organization of this event reflects the ability of our medical students and recent graduates, and we are pleased that they are gaining such experience, which they will also need as doctors in their lives. I believe that this meeting is very stimulating for all participants and it is satisfaction for them for the many limitations during the pandemic, which students felt in different countries,” said prof. Daniel Pella, M.D., PhD.
