The Faculty of Medicine at Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice (UPJŠ FM), AGEL SK a.s., and the AGEL Educational, Scientific, and Research Institute n.o. have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, paving the way for new opportunities in education, science, research, and other related activities. This strategic partnership aims to create optimal conditions for the exchange of knowledge and experience between the academic community and healthcare practice.
AGEL oversees a network of healthcare providers with a significant impact on healthcare delivery in Slovakia. UPJŠ FM is the largest provider of higher education in medicine and healthcare in Eastern Slovakia, offering undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing education for healthcare professionals. In addition to its educational role, UPJŠ FM is also a leading institution in science and research.
The memorandum serves as a solid foundation for establishing an effective and dynamic communication platform. The collaboration will systematically develop in key areas such as undergraduate education, doctoral studies, continuing education for healthcare professionals, and science and research. The participants of the memorandum express a clear commitment and determination to actively seek and utilize new opportunities to expand and deepen mutual cooperation.
In undergraduate education, the parties have committed to creating optimal conditions for medical students’ practical training in AGEL’s healthcare facilities. Emphasis will be placed on providing quality summer and pre-graduation internships, offering students valuable practical experience. AGEL will actively encourage its employees and healthcare facilities to support and participate in the professional training of UPJŠ FM students. In the area of doctoral studies, AGEL has pledged to support third-level university students at UPJŠ FM and promote its importance among its employees. For continuing education, the parties will analyze and develop opportunities to include AGEL’s facilities among accredited institutions for the practical component of specialization studies and certification training. In science and research, the memorandum participants will actively seek opportunities for collaboration in acquiring and implementing scientific grants and projects. They will jointly support the preparation of scientific publications and the implementation of the latest findings into practice, thereby contributing to the advancement of medical science and innovation.
