E-learning resources

2minút, 51sekúnd

In recent years, e-learning has become an indispensable part of medical education, changing the way knowledge is delivered, stored and applied. Traditional medical education has evolved with the rise of digital resources, allowing students and educators to engage with content outside of classrooms and auditoriums. E-learning resources offer a number of advantages, from increased availability and flexibility to the possibility of personalized learning. They provide on-demand access to comprehensive materials and allow students to learn at their own pace and review challenging concepts as needed. This adaptability is critical in medical training, where the volume and complexity of knowledge is constantly expanding.

In addition, e-learning resources equip students with digital tools that mimic real medical scenarios, improving clinical reasoning and decision-making skills. By integrating multimedia such as videos, 3D models and interactive quizzes, these platforms encourage deeper understanding and engagement. For educators, e-learning tools make it easier to support the curriculum and allow tracking of student progress, which helps identify strengths and areas for improvement. Overall, e-learning resources have become essential to the development of a well-rounded, competent and prepared healthcare workforce.

At the medical faculty of the Pavel Jozef Šafárik University, we recently secured access to the AMBOSS platform through cooperation with the Slovak Centre for Scientific and Technical Information (CVTI).

AMBOSS: The leading educational platform in medicine

As part of our commitment to providing exceptional educational tools, we are pleased to offer AMBOSS access to all medical students and faculty members. AMBOSS is a state-of-the-art medical education platform designed to meet the rigorous demands of medical education by integrating an extensive knowledge library with an extensive question bank of clinical case studies and practical learning tools. Covering a wide range of topics – from basic science to advanced clinical skills – AMBOSS serves as both a study aid and a clinical reference, making it valuable at every stage of medical education.

AMBOSS features adaptive learning technology that identifies users’ strengths and weaknesses to tailor study recommendations. The platform’s question bank contains thousands of high-yield clinical scenarios and questions, each with detailed explanations, evidence-based insights, and cross-references to relevant content within the knowledge library. This structure helps students not only prepare for exams but also deepen their clinical reasoning skills. In addition, AMBOSS offers real-time clinical guidance through its interactive “Overlay” tool, which provides immediate answers and explanations of clinical cases and procedures and assists students during their clinical studies.

For educators, AMBOSS is an invaluable resource to support lesson plans and curriculum objectives, facilitate student engagement in complex topics, and help track student progress. The platform’s multimedia resources, such as 3D anatomical models and illustrative summaries, enrich the learning experience and enable different learning styles. The use of clinical case studies is also an invaluable method of teaching based on clinical problems. With AMBOSS, our students and faculty gain access to a comprehensive, up-to-date medical resource that is optimized to support academic success and clinical excellence.
