The Faculty of Medicine at Pavol Jozef Šafárik University (UPJŠ) in Košice successfully participated in SlovakiaTech Forum-Expo 2024, the largest technology conference in Slovakia, held on September 24-25, 2024, at Kasárne/Kulturpark in Košice. The Faculty was represented by the Centre of Simulator and Virtual Medicine, showcasing innovations in education and medical training through the use of modern technologies.
One of the key presentations was on “Virtual Reality – Human Anatomy.” This is the most advanced platform for medical anatomy, integrating virtual reality (VR), mixed reality (MR), and augmented reality (AR) for medical education. The platform, known as Human Anatomy VR, offers a complete VR anatomical atlas combined with an advanced 3D VR DICOM viewer. This technology opens new possibilities for medical students, allowing them to explore the human body interactively and improve their practical skills without relying on traditional models or cadavers.
The Centre of Simulator and Virtual Medicine focuses on merging modern technologies with medical education, setting new standards for the training of healthcare professionals. The conference also featured presentations from colleagues at VUCAP and the Faculty of Science at UPJŠ, who introduced their projects in data analysis and research on new batteries for electric vehicles.
SlovakiaTech Forum-Expo annually brings a wide range of innovative topics from the world of technology, research, and development. Once again, the Faculty of Medicine at UPJŠ in Košice demonstrates its leadership not only in medical education but also in applying technological innovations in this field.
