On September 27, 2023, the academic senate of the UPJŠ Faculty of Medicine approved a proposal to change the Organizational Structure of UPJŠ MF to create a Medical Education Centre of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Pavel Jozef Šafárik in Košice. After several months of discussions and planning, the Centre opened as an independent unit whose task will be to coordinate its activities.
The activities of the centre will consist of several pillars: institutional support of the teaching staff of the faculty as a framework of medical education competencies, curriculum development, educational research and, last but not least, cooperation with other institutions and bodies with a similar objectives.
At the current stage, the centre’s staff is preparing a strategy for several years, which will serve as a framework for creating an annual work plan and will be based on quantitative and qualitative data collection from stakeholders at the faculty.
