SKASE – The Slovak Association for the Study of English, as a national member of ESSE,  is a society of researchers and teachers of English languages, literatures in English, cultures and area studies of English-speaking people in Slovakia. It endeavours to promote research and teaching in the field by facilitating intellectual co-operation and the exchange of ideas and experience in English studies across Slovakia and by promoting international co-operation under the auspices of ESSE.

Given the non-existence of specialized linguistic and literary journals in the field of English linguistics and English studies, one of the main aims of SKASE is to promote research at Slovak universities by establishing and publishing international journals of theoretical linguistics, applied linguistics, and translation science.

By organizing conferences and seminars SKASE intends to bring together scholars, researchers and teachers of various aspects of English studies both from Slovakia and abroad to enhance the academic dialogue,  research, and intellectual exchange.

Currently, there are three journals:

SKASE Journal of Theoretical Linguistics is published by the Slovak Association for the Study of English (SKASE) as an electronic, free-access journal. All articles are anonymously reviewed by external peer-reviewers. Synchronic research into phonology, inflectional morphology, word-formation, lexical semantics, syntax, psycholinguistics, cognitive linguistics, sociolinguistics, corpus linguistics, discourse analysis, and other areas of linguistic research including interdisciplinary research projects. The SKASE Journal of Theoretical Linguistics is currently indexed in WEB OF SCIENCE (Emerging Sources Citation Index), SCOPUS, ERIH PLUS, EBSCO OPEN ACCESS JOURNALS, LUND UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES, NORWEGIAN SCIENTIFIC INDEX.

SKASE Journal of Translation and Interpretation is published by the Slovak Association for the Study of English (SKASE) as one of its specialised journals in the Series. It is an English-language peer-reviewed online journal with free access, currently indexed in SCOPUS, ERIH, EBSCO Open Access Journals, and Lund University Libraries.

SKASE Journal of Literary and Cultural Studies is an open-access, peer-reviewed e-journal that is published biannually by the Slovak Association for the Study of English (SKASE). All articles are anonymously reviewed by members of the editorial board. The journal provides a forum for original research informed by Literary and Cultural Theory. Scholarly articles written in English on all topics relevant to literary and cultural studies are welcome. Contributions in the form of book reviews, calls for papers, and announcements of conferences are also invited.
