The history of the Language Training Centre (LTC) dates back to 1952, when the Cabinet of<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Russian Language was established within the Faculty of Medicine and was supervised by the<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Department of Russian Language operating under the Comenius University in Bratislava. The<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n first Head of the Cabinet was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Stefan Dobos, to be followed by JUDr. Jaroslav<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Savulak from 1953. In 1959\u00a0the Cabinet was incorporated into the Department of Foreign<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Languages operating within the former Faculty of Arts. In 1963, after the establishment of the<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Faculty of Natural Science, a separate Department of Languages came into existence offering<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n its language courses to the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Natural Science, and later<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n also to the Faculty of Law. In that period the Department was headed by JUDr. Jaroslav<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Savulak (till 1970) and PhDr. Ivan Kimak, CSc. (till 1982). After 1982\u00a0the Department was<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n chaired by Assoc. Prof. PhDr. Vasil Jabur, CSc. (1982\u20131986), prof. PhDr. Julius Rybak, CSc.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n (1986\u20131994), in 1991\u20131992 vice-chaired by Assoc. Prof. PhDr. Frantisek Simon, CSc., and<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n PhDr. Olga Farkasova, CSc. (1994\u20131998). In 1998 Assoc. Prof. PhDr. Frantisek Simon,\u00a0CSc.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n assumed the position again. In 2014 the Language Training Centre was established and<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n chaired by PhDr. Helena Petru\u0148ov\u00e1,<\/span><\/span> CSc. (2014\u20132019).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The Department of Languages at the University of P. J. \u0160af\u00e1rik in Ko\u0161ice (UPJS) was ranked<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n high among the scientific-educational workplaces conducting LSP courses in English, German,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n French, Latin, Russian and Slovak as a\u00a0foreign language at all non-philological UPJS faculties<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n for more than 50 years. Foreign language courses were provided at all three levels of tertiary<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n education, Bachelor\u00b4s, Master\u00b4s\u00a0and Doctoral\u00a0(PhD). In 2005 the Department of Languages at<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n UPJS became the basis of the Institute of Philologies and Social Sciences and later it was<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n incorporated into the Department of British and American Studies.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The Language Training Centre (LTC) of Pavol Jozef\u00a0\u0160afarik University was established in<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n 2014 as the facility of the Faculty of Arts, P. J. \u0160afarik University in Ko\u0161ice (UPJS) offering <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n students and employees of UPJS a range of language courses for specific purposes to<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n increase their language competences in English, Russian and Slovak as a foreign language.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Today, the principal mission of LTC is to allow the greatest number possible of students and<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n researchers at the University of P. J. \u0160af\u00e1rik to learn one or several foreign languages to<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n foster their mobility inside as well as outside the university. The LTC is also responsible for<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n language training of international students at the university, focusing on Slovak language<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n courses at the Faculty of Medicine.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Currently, undergraduate and graduate students from all non-philological faculties (Faculty of <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Medicine, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Public Administration, Institute of<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Physical Education and Sport) and from the Faculty of Arts can choose from over 20 ESP and<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n EAP language courses each semester, focusing on improving their speaking, reading, <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n listening and writing skills. LTC has designed many LSP courses with the objectives and<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n contents based on the levels stated in the CEFR.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"parent":21109,"menu_order":5,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_editorskit_title_hidden":false,"_editorskit_reading_time":0,"_editorskit_is_block_options_detached":false,"_editorskit_block_options_position":"{}"},"categories":[],"tags":[],"tax_aktuality":[],"class_list":["post-21116","cpt_pracoviska","type-cpt_pracoviska","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":{"acf_link_na_externy_obsah":""},"yoast_head":"\n
