The end of the semester was at the Department of British and American Studies FF UPJ\u0160<\/strong><\/span> dedicated to the activities organized within the Career and Club Week<\/strong> for our students. \nOn the 9th of December to honour the department’s Alumni Day, our former students Mgr. Andrea Petrov\u010dinov\u00e1<\/strong>, copywriter, author for Creative Industry Ko\u0161ice, and Mgr. Ivana Rusn\u00e1kov\u00e1<\/strong>, gallery manager, production and project manager for VUNU Gallery Ko\u0161ice, returned to their former university grounds to give us an overview of their unusual professions.
\nOn the 10th of December, during our Students Day, the students could meet Lucia Feckov\u00e1<\/strong>, a 2nd year student of AJNJEIEb, a representative of the Slovak Republic in kickbox, Bc. Marek Sabo<\/strong>, 1st year student of AJFJEIE and a programmer of (language) games, and Bc. Krist\u00edna Mak\u00f3ov\u00e1<\/strong>, a student of the 2nd year of AJEIEm, the UPJ\u0160 European Career Ambassador.
\nWednesday the 11th of December was dedicated to Career Day, with Ing. Katar\u00edna Ka\u0161ick\u00e1<\/strong> from Teach for Slovakia with her “Determination of personal vision and SMART goals”, and Mgr. Slavom\u00edra Hrabovsk\u00e1<\/strong>, alumni of KAA FF UPJ\u0160, withe the programme Summer Work & Travel USA from the Information Planet. In the evening, a public presentation of student works on American Cinema took place in the InfoUSA.
\nThursday the 12th of December was dedicated to Gender Day with a special screening of the documentary film “Between Us” about obstetrics in Slovakia, followed by a discussion with the director Zuzana L\u00edmov\u00e1<\/strong> and other human rights experts. Afterwards Veronika Mi\u0161kech Fri\u010dov\u00e1, MSc.<\/strong> from the British Chamber of Commerce in the Slovak Republic has provided a lecture on Tackling Gender Inequality and Violence Across Classes in India.
\nWe finished our week with Teachers Day on Friday the 13th of December with a British Council lecturer Claire Potter<\/strong> on “Promoting Inclusive Classrooms in Slovakia”, and Ing. Katar\u00edna Ka\u0161ick\u00e1<\/strong>‘s seminar on “Building a culture of success in the classroom.” At the same time, our students could stop by the Oxford University Press exhibition by Mgr. Eva Moze\u0161ov\u00e1<\/strong> where they could take useful teaching materials.
\nDouze \u00e9tudiantes et \u00e9tudiants de deux lyc\u00e9es (le Gimn\u00e1zium Zr\u00ednyi Ilona et l\u2019Avasi Gimn\u00e1zium) de Miskolc, inscrits en sections bilingues anglais-fran\u00e7ais, nous ont rendu visite pour observer le travail des \u00e9tudiants et des enseignants du programme d\u00b4\u00e9tudes de traduction et interpr\u00e9tation au D\u00e9partement d’\u00e9tudes britanniques et am\u00e9ricaines. Les \u00e9tudiantes de 1\u00e8re ann\u00e9e de Master ayant l\u00b4anglais et le fran\u00e7ais pour combinaison des langues B et le slovaque et le hongrois pour leurs langues A leur ont fait une d\u00e9monstration des techniques d’interpr\u00e9tation simultan\u00e9e, y compris l\u00b4utilisation de la langue pivot. Les enseignants de la section bilingue fran\u00e7aise des deux lyc\u00e9es \u00c9va Kov\u00e1cs<\/strong>, Julie Hamon<\/strong> et Olivier Dupuy<\/strong> ont pu, eux aussi, s\u00b4essayer \u00e0 ce travail. Nous esp\u00e9rons qu\u00b4ils ont trouv\u00e9 cette nouvelle exp\u00e9rience int\u00e9ressante et que la promenade au march\u00e9 de No\u00ebl dans le centre de Ko\u0161ice leur a plu.
