Anderson<\/strong> \u2013 the U.S. Fulbright Scholar in Slovakia, who specializes in the history of the American South, African American history, and the Atlantic World. He earned his Ph.D. at the University of Florida and now serves as a full professor and associate director of the School of Humanities at the University of Louisiana Monroe. Currently, he is affiliated with the Departments of British and American Studies and the Department of History of the Faculty of Arts of Pavol Jozef \u0160af\u00e1rik University in Ko\u0161ice.<br \/>\nJeffrey will provide a brief overview of African American history and will talk about Voodoo and Hoodoo. As he says: \u201cVoodoo is a word that many people in America and around the world have heard, but few understand what it means. Though the average person associates it with magic and evil deeds, such was not necessarily the case.
