It has become a great and common tradition at the Faculty of Arts, UPJŠ that the representatives of the management of the Faculty meet the students’ representatives to discuss important issues. Every semester there are two such meetings, which take place at the beginning of the semester and at the end of the semester.
The second meeting of this semester took place on Monday, December 4, 2023, in the Historical Auditorium of the Rector’s Office of UPJŠ. The invitation to participate was accepted by almost two dozen of students at all three levels of study. Among the participating students were those who serve as representatives at the Faculty´s Student Council, as members of the student part of the Faculty´s Senate as well as students participating in various councils of different study programmes of the Faculty of Arts, UPJŠ.
The meeting started with a warm welcome by the Dean prof. Mgr. Renáta Panocová, PhD., who expressed her appreciation of the existing open dialogue between students and the faculty management. Then, the Vice-Dean for Education, doc. PhDr. Beáta Ráczová, PhD. presented the overview of the policy on the procedure for submitting students ´ comments, suggestions, and proposals regarding the educational process. Next, in her speech she discussed the topic of promoting already successfully implemented procedures at the faculty and emphasised the importance of how students’ see them.
Another important theme of the meeting was students´ feedback survey and aspects which could motivate students to complete it in high numbers during the upcoming Winter semester of the academic year 2023/2024. The survey which is conducted through Survey Monkey will be open for responses until January 5, 2024. A seven-point guide on how to participate and provide feedback (formulated in “student language”) was also developed and will be disseminated through social media in the coming days. Among other things, this guide stresses the principle that each student is providing his/her own feedback and not the feedback of the whole class and that he/she should be constructive, cultured, and polite when providing the feedback.
The next meeting of the Faculty of Arts, UPJŠ management with the representatives of the students is planned for February 26, 2024.
