On 4 and 5 March 2024, the Faculty of Arts of Pavol Jozef Šafárik in Košice was honoured by the visit of prof. Maurizio Viezzi from the University of Trieste (Università degli Studi di Trieste). In an invited lecture for future translators and interpreters, as well as for future teachers of English, he presented the challenges associated with multilingualism and aspects of interpreting quality. After the lecture, he participated in the meeting with the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, prof. Mgr. Renáta Panocová, PhD. Prof. Maurizio Viezzi works at the Department of Legal Language, Interpreting and Translation Studies. For two terms he held the office of the President of CIUTI (Conférence Internationale permanente d’Instituts Universitaires de Traducteurs et Interprètes), an international association of university institutes with translation and interpretation programmes, and also the President of the European Language Council. He has worked for many years as a professional interpreter specialising in the field of medicine.
