On Wednesday 9 October 2019 students enrolled in the American Cinema course were invited to attend the screening of Night of the Living Dead (1968), an event co-organized by the BAS Department FF UPJŠ, InfoUSA in Košice and the US Embassy in Bratislava. The screening of the film was followed by a discussion led by Mr. Bradley Gardner from the US Embassy, who holds degrees in Cinema and Television Critical Studies from the University of Southern California, and Film Studies from the University of Chicago. He spoke about themes in the film that relate to specific topics in American history.
We want to thank the co-organizers, Ms Martina Jesenská (InfoUSA) and Ms Elena Raab Bianchi (US Embassy), for providing our students with the opportunity to attend this event, and Mr. Gardner for his time and effort he put into the discussion. We look forward to all the future film sessions as we hope events like this one will become more regular in the future.
