The end of winter semester with Career and Club Week at the BAS FF UPJŠ

2minút, 51sekúnd

The end of the semester was at the Department of British and American Studies FF UPJŠ dedicated to the activities organized within the Career and Club Week for our students. They had the chance to be inspired by lectures and tips for their future career choices and for their personal and professional development.
On the 9th of December to honour the department’s Alumni Day, our former students Mgr. Andrea Petrovčinová, copywriter, author for Creative Industry Košice, and Mgr. Ivana Rusnáková, gallery manager, production and project manager for VUNU Gallery Košice, returned to their former university grounds to give us an overview of their unusual professions.
On the 10th of December, during our Students Day, the students could meet Lucia Fecková, a 2nd year student of AJNJEIEb, a representative of the Slovak Republic in kickbox, Bc. Marek Sabo, 1st year student of AJFJEIE and a programmer of (language) games, and Bc. Kristína Makóová, a student of the 2nd year of AJEIEm, the UPJŠ European Career Ambassador.
Wednesday the 11th of December was dedicated to Career Day, with Ing. Katarína Kašická from Teach for Slovakia with her “Determination of personal vision and SMART goals”, and Mgr. Slavomíra Hrabovská, alumni of KAA FF UPJŠ, withe the programme Summer Work & Travel USA from the Information Planet. In the evening, a public presentation of student works on American Cinema took place in the InfoUSA.
Thursday the 12th of December was dedicated to Gender Day with a special screening of the documentary film “Between Us” about obstetrics in Slovakia, followed by a discussion with the director Zuzana Límová and other human rights experts. Afterwards Veronika Miškech Fričová, MSc. from the British Chamber of Commerce in the Slovak Republic has provided a lecture on Tackling Gender Inequality and Violence Across Classes in India.
We finished our week with Teachers Day on Friday the 13th of December with a British Council lecturer Claire Potter on “Promoting Inclusive Classrooms in Slovakia”, and Ing. Katarína Kašická‘s seminar on “Building a culture of success in the classroom.” At the same time, our students could stop by the Oxford University Press exhibition by Mgr. Eva Mozešová where they could take useful teaching materials.
We look forward to the next Career and Club Week in May 2020.
