CAREER COUNSELLING
The Department of educational psychology and psychology of health provides career counselling services not only to the students of our university. The notion “career counselling” includes a sequence of services that include information services, but also professional and specialized services that correspond to individual needs of our clients.

SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGY
The Department of educational psychology and psychology of health of the Faculty of Arts of P.J. Šafárik University in Košice offers 4-semestral specialized education in SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGY. Since the academic year 2019/2020, specialized education in school psychology has been offered as an extension study in school psychology in accordance with the Law no 138/2019, which will enter into force on 1 September 2019.
We are looking for people with a degree from teaching of psychology in combination. Duration of studies: 240 classes comprised in 4 weeks of school-time. The studies are finished by taking a final exam and a defense of the final thesis in school psychology which result in obtaining the certificate.
Specialized education in School psychology is intended for master´s graduates in Teaching of academic subjects- Teaching of psychology in combination.
Graduate profile: The graduate deepens, extends and learns the latest progressive theoretical and practical knowledge of an applied psychology discipline- the school psychology and obtains skills and knowledge needed for the work of school psychologist in schools and educational facilities. The graduates profile corresponds to the job description of vocational employees defined in the Journal of Laws No. 317/2009, under which “A school psychologist carries out professional activities in the scope of indicative psychological diagnostics, individual, group or collective psychological counselling, psychotherapy, prevention and intervention among pupils focused especially on formation and education processes at schools and educational facilities; carries out professional activities of psychological counselling in family relationships, partnership and other types of social relationships; provides psychological counselling and consultations to legal representatives and pedagogical staff of schools and educational facilities; prepares source materials for vocational employees of counselling facilities.”
