DISCARDED FURNITURE DATABASE

At present, the growing problem of waste cannot be ignored. We believe that we, as a university, should actively strive to reduce the amount of waste produced. Both the environment and our society can benefit from this. UPJŠ enables the donation of unneeded furniture to charitable organizations.

Here you will find a database of discarded furniture, which is regularly updated:

Interested in something? Contact Laura Hoľanová on 0905 385 911.

We also offer our students and staff the opportunity to give a second chance to unneeded furniture. Contact us at zelenauniverzita@upjs.sk and we will include it in the database.

COLLECTION OF USED COOKING OIL

In Slovakia, the collection of used edible oils and fats from households is classified as compulsory separate collection. Oil clogs and blocks sewers, harms animals, attracts rodents and causes a problem in wastewater treatment. Used oil can be fully reused in the production of plastics or biofuels!

Filter the used cooking oil (through a sieve) into a closable collection bottle. Then bring us the closed oil bottle.

Where: To the premises of UPJŠ Rectorate to the building of the former canteen (building in the middle of the parking lot, entrance from Dr. Kostlivého Street).

When: Always on the first Monday of the month from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

If necessary, contact Kamil Zelenák on 0905 675 418.

COLLECTION OF EXPIRED MEDICINES

The Slovak Chamber of Pharmacists warns that medicines that we do not need should not be left to pile up at home. This generates waste that is potentially hazardous to both the household and the environment. Approximately 10% of active or other substances from pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical products found in the environment come precisely from improperly disposed of medicines. Unused medicines may constitute hazardous waste. Although medicines are not dangerous to humans, they can contaminate the environment around us if disposed of improperly.

Good practice for recycling medicines:
