The scientific interest of Dr. E. \u010ci\u017em\u00e1r<\/strong> is focused on low-dimensional magnets with an energy gap in the excitation spectrum and on molecular magnets. He studies the impact of anisotropic interactions in spin ladders and chains on the formation of exotic quantum states, such as Bose-Einstein condensation of magnetic excitations or spin-liquid state [E. \u010ci\u017em\u00e1r, et al., Phys.
