The urbanHIST recruitment procedure for 15 PhD positions took place on January 18 \u2013 20, 2017 in Valladolid, Spain. Admission boards of all beneficiaries within the H2020 funded project History of European Urbanism in the 20th Century (urbanHIST) met in order to carefully select eligible candidates for 15 PhD positions at individual universities.\u00a0 The overall number of applicants was 56, representing diversity of countries, also non-European. 36 invited candidates presented their research projects as well as their scientific expertise and language proficiency.<\/p>\n
Pavol Jozef \u0160af\u00e1rik University in Ko\u0161ice, as one of the four beneficiaries, was represented by the project director at UPJ\u0160, Assoc.Prof. Martin Pek\u00e1r, Ph.D., the head of the Department of History at the Faculty of Arts, UPJ\u0160 and also one of the Ph.D. theses supervisors, three more Ph.D. theses supervisors at UPJ\u0160 \u2013 prof. Jaroslav Hofierka, Ph.D. (Institute of Geography at the Faculty of Science, UPJ\u0160), MA, MPhil Petr Roubal, Ph.D. (Institute of Contemporary History, Czech Academy of Sciences), prof. \u0160tefan \u0160utaj, DrSc. (Department of History at the Faculty of Arts, UPJ\u0160) accompanied by Katar\u00edna Hajdukov\u00e1, the project coordinator at the Faculty of Arts, UPJ\u0160. We are happy to announce that 11 ESR candidates were chosen due to their impressive applications and presentations; however, 4 remaining positions will be offered within the second call of the selection procedure.<\/p>\n
Apart from the professional level, the urbanHIST project significantly contributes to the internationalization of the study, as the double degree programme at Pavol Jozef \u0160af\u00e1rik University in Ko\u0161ice will be offered to applicants from Spain, France, Germany, Poland, Kazakhstan and Malaysia. The next planned meeting of the entire project team will be hosted by Bauhaus Universit\u00e4t Weimar, Germany in May 2017.
