Based on its previous success, the Intercultural Communication course was once again held in the winter semester of the academic year 2022/2023. The course was attended by a group of international students from Sweden, Poland, France and Uzbekistan, who arrived to Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice as part of the Erasmus+ programme and the National Scholarship Programme.
This semester, the course was organized into two sessions, first of which was held on October 7, 2022, in the Plato building of the Faculty of Arts, and the second one took place on November 23, 2022, in the building of the university café, Minerva. Within the scope of the sessions, the attendees discussed several topics, among them cultural differences and their influence on the human behaviour and values, differences and “faux amis” in various languages, and, at the same time, the students shared their experiences with cultural differences encountered during their stay in Slovakia. The students were guided through the course by the lector of the Language Training Centre, Mgr. Ing. Ingrid Madárová, PhD.
The Intercultural Communication course was organized as part of the One.Point project. In order to systematize the process of mobility management, counselling and services for both incoming and outgoing students, teachers and scientists, the aim of the project is to establish a contact place of the same name.
