Dr. V. Komanický is the head of the Nanotechnology Laboratory for the preparation of nanocomponents for electronics, sensors and environmental applications, and the head of the Laboratory of Scanning Electron Microscopy. His scientific research is focused on the study and preparation of coatings and thin films by means of PVD methods, as well on their characterization by diffraction, spectroscopic, and microscopic methods. Dr. Komanický also studies possible use of nano-fabrication methods to produce objects with reduced dimensionality for basic and applied research in the field of superconductivity, magnetism, and technology for energy conversion and storage [V. Komanický, H. Iddir, K. C. Chang, A. Menxel, G. Karapetrov, D. Hennessy, H. You, P. Zapol, J. Am. Chem. Soc. 131 (2009) 5732]. In recent years, he is engaged in the study of the processes induced by the electron beam and the electromagnetic radiation on the surfaces of amorphous systems based on chalcogenide glasses (Fig.3) [V. Bilanych, V. Komanicky, M. Lackova, A. Feher, V. Kuzma, V. Rizak, Mater. Res. Express 2 (2015) 1].
