The internationalisation of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice is currently achieved in various ways. The teacher and student mobilities (teaching, training, traineeship, studies) represent the most prominent form of internationalisation, mainly via the Erasmus+ programme, the Visegrad Fund, and the National Scholarship Programme or via other various projects.
Within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme, our university has over 200 partner universities. Apart from this programme, our faculties and departments have more than 120 international agreements with universities and institutions not only in Europe, but also in other non-European countries as well.
The process of internationalisation is also represented by the international memberships and work of our teachers in organisations and associations abroad, and in the various forms of cooperation with international partners in research and educational projects.
Teaching courses for the international students in foreign languages represents another form of internationalisation. The teaching of more than 200 courses/semester in English for the international students is carried out by individual faculties of the university involving more than 110 teachers.
The university aims to increase the quality of education by providing joint or double degree programmes thanks to our intensive cooperation with universities abroad. Currently, our university offers 18 joint or double degree programmes.
The certified interdisciplinary courses at Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice are an important element of the education process that continuously lead to an increase in the quality of education, and they are available to all students of the university. At present, the university offers 15 different interdisciplinary courses, which consist of more than 65 modules.
In order to ensure internationalisation on the premises of the university, which is in line with our Long-Term Strategy, we also invite foreign experts to give lectures or to join expert committees.
Within the framework of the Internationalisation, Interdisciplinarity and Innovation of Higher Education Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice (3i) project, we implement activities that expand the international dimension of the university.
The outcome and a part of the project are new Certified International Interdisciplinary Courses (ICIK) in English offered to international students of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice.
