Aurora European Universities Alliance is one of the selected European university alliances in the Erasmus + “European Universities” initiative, which aims to increase the quality and competitiveness of European Higher Education. The Alliance consists out of a consortium of research universities committed in building their future and promoting European values and identity.
The main objectives of the Alliance are to build opportunities for students’ skills development, becoming social entrepreneurs and innovators, willing and able to face major societal challenges, and regular cooperation with external stakeholders and students in education, research and development at local, national, european and global level. Last but not least, the AEU intends to be an example and inspiration in the field of sustainable development.
European universities have the ambition to ensure an unprecedented level of institutionalized cooperation, which makes this initiative systemic, structural and sustainable. That is why European universities aim to promote common European values and strengthen European identity by bringing together a new generation of Europeans, able to work together in different European and global cultures, in different languages, sectors, academic disciplines or abroad.
Another aim is to make progress in the quality, performance, attractiveness and international competitiveness of European Higher Education institutions. The contribution to the European knowledge economy, labor market, culture, civic awareness and social security through the use of modern pedagogical approaches is also important. European universities will be the main incentives to improve the quality of higher education and, where possible, to strengthen its links with research, innovation and innovation structures in Europe, with an impact on society and the economy.
