Researchers to analyse the movement of university students

Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice is to cooperate with the University of Pécs on a project focusing on the physical activity of university students, funded by the International Visegrad Fund.

Guests from Hungary – prof. Dr. Ács Pongrác, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Pécs, and head of the project, accompanied by his colleagues Dr. Viktoria Prémusz and Dr. Alexandra Makai – were welcomed on the afternoon of 11 March 2025 at the Rector’s Office of UPJŠ by Dr. h. c. prof. Mgr. Slávka Tomaščíková, PhD, the Vice-Rector for International Relations.

The joint meeting took place in the presence of the Institute of Physical Education and Sport’s representatives as a partner institution in the project, Director Mgr. Alena Bukova, PhD., university associate professor, prof. PaedDr. Ján Junger, CSc. Mgr. Ferdinand Salonna, PhD. The aim of the meeting was not only the joint research within the grant, but also the possibility of cooperation in the preparation of new study programmes at the Institute. The scientific team from Hungary has technical equipment for monitoring physical activity, which they kindly provided to our institute. The University of Pécs is the lead institution of the project, in which UPJŠ will be joined by universities from Poland and the Czech Republic:

John Paul II University in Biała Podlaska, and the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. The project will result in a study mapping the physical activity of university students and an international conference organised by the partners in Poland.
