Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice was one of the main partners of the Zborovňa conference for teachers of STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) in the East Slovakia region. The event took place on Thursday, 13 February 2025, at UVP Technicom in Košice. In the introduction, the Vice-Rector of UPJŠ for Interdisciplinary Education and Innovation, Assoc. PaedDr. Renáta Orosová, PhD., emphasized the importance of modernization of education approaches and continuous professional development of teachers.
UPJŠ in Košice emphasizes quality education, which starts with teachers. The university has long educated future teachers, especially in the natural sciences and humanities, and supports their continuous professional development. That is why, in partnership with the main organizer of the conference, Zborovňa Košice IT Valley, the university actively participates in the preparation of this exceptional event for educators who want to develop their didactic skills, incorporate innovative methods into teaching, and use the latest digital tools. The conference brings innovative approaches to teaching, opens up new possibilities for educators to use modern technologies, and presents an opportunity for professional growth and strengthening the link between academia and teaching practice.
The program of Zborovňa 2025 focused on digital responsibility and connecting schools with technology and the startup sector. The topics included artificial intelligence, science literacy, and the use of learning zones. The impact of digital tools in the classroom, as well as the possibility of using space technologies in secondary education, were among other topics from speakers. Later there was time for networking and presentations of innovative solutions.
