The EAIE – European Association for International Education 2023 conference and exhibition is one of the largest EAIE conferences, at which more than 6,000 international experts from the field of higher education gathered in Rotterdam from 26 to 29 September 2023, including a delegation from the Slovak Republic led by Michal Fedák, State Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic. On behalf of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice (UPJŠ), the fair was attended by Dr. h. c. prof. Mgr. Slávka Tomaščíková, PhD., Vice-Rector for International Relations and PhDr. Zuzana Szattlerová, Foreign Relations Officer. The 33rd edition of the European Education Fair started with a busy day full of deepening familiar contacts between participants, welcoming newcomers and, above all, improving internationalization skills.
The fair, under the auspices of EAIE, offered a great opportunity to learn from internationalization experts and improve skills. Nine interactive workshops led by professional speakers from around the world presented proven practices and functional solutions on topics ranging from marketing to strategic internationalization planning to blended mobility. “Over four days, we held more than 50 meetings with representatives of universities and educational organizations from all continents. We believe that the new contacts will enrich the foreign cooperation of UPJŠ departments in the area of education and more,” said Vice-Rector Tomaščíková.
The European Association for International Education (EAIE) is a European centre of expertise, networking and resources for the internationalization of higher education.
It was founded in 1989 and still provides a platform for education and networking. EAIE trains academic and non-academic professionals in internationalization, while providing a platform for the strategic exchange of experiences and challenges related to the internationalization process, working with key stakeholder organizations and institutions to support international higher education in Europe and beyond. EAIE’s mission is to demonstrate the impact of internationalization in the international higher education sector and to influence policy makers in order to promote a vision in which international education brings together different perspectives, fosters better understanding and helps to make the world a better place.
