UPJŠ at Race to Zero event

    In mid-May, the British Embassy in Slovakia organized the event Race to Zero at the Congress Center at Smolenice Castle. The event was organized as part of a global campaign to promote a healthy and resilient, zero-carbon recovery.
    Currently, 708 cities, 24 regions, 2360 companies, 163 global investors and 624 universities are involved in the campaign. More information about the campaign: https://unfccc.int
The aim of the event was to invite Slovak universities to sign the Global Climate Report. Race to Zero event in Smolenice was attended by important foreign and national personalities, who provided participants from Slovak universities with information about the Race to Zero campaign and presented inspiring examples of activities and measures within the framework of fulfilling the commitments to participate in the global campaign.
    UPJŠ was represented by the Rector prof. Pavol Sovák,  together with the Vice-Rector for International Relations and Mobility doc. Silvia Ručinská. The topic of climate change is important for our university. During the discussion, Rector prof. Sovák presented several measures implemented with the aim of reducing the impact of the university’s activities on the environment. In the upcoming period, management of the university plans to continue educational and scientific research activities, as well as organizational and technical measures aimed at improving the environment.
