The STEM day camp is organized by the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice (UPJŠ) as one of the activities within the national project DiTEdu – Digital Transformation of Education and Schools. The camp was divided into two camps: on 15-19 July 2024 for pupils of 5th-6th grade of primary schools and on 22-26 July 2024 for pupils of 7th-9th grade of primary schools or equivalents of eight-year grammar schools.
The aim of the camp is to spark curiosity about science in primary school children in a playful way. In the first camp 25 children participated, in the second 21 children. Some of the participants enrolled in the camp for the second time, which shows its popularity not only with parents but also with their children. “The two-week programme for children was prepared and implemented by a 10-member expert team of the National Centre for Digital Transformation of Education (NCDTV) at UPJS. This centre was established with the support of the national project DiTEdu not only at UPJŠ, but also at Comenius University in Bratislava,” said the Director of the Centre for Lifelong Learning and Project Support at UPJŠ, Assoc. Prof. Dušan Šveda.
